After surgery: when to call, when to go
Your dog just came home from surgery, and you want to know which little changes are normal and which ones aren't. This poster puts it all on the fridge: the signs that mean go to the emergency clinic now, the ones that mean call your vet today, and the things that are normal to watch.
Download the printable poster (PDF)Six pages, letter size. Print it on any home printer and tape it where everyone in the house can see it. Snap a photo of it with your phone too, since the fridge doesn't ride along to the emergency clinic.
If something looks wrong right now: white, gray or blue gums, trouble breathing, collapse, or an incision that has opened means go to the nearest emergency clinic. Don't wait to print anything.
This is general information, not a diagnosis. Your own vet knows your dog and the surgery that was done, and their instructions always come first.
