Dr. Pelton explains the 3 causes of itching/allergies

Is your dog constantly itching, licking, or getting ear infections? In this comprehensive video, Dr. Steve Pelton of Hearthstone Animal Clinic walks you through the real causes of allergies in dogs—and what truly helps. We cover the three major types of allergies: 🦟 Flea Allergy Dermatitis – Why even a single flea bite can set off a full-body reaction 🥩 Food Allergies – What symptoms to look for and how to run an actual elimination diet (hint: it’s not just switching brands) 🌼 Environmental Allergies (Atopy) – Why dogs develop seasonal or year-round itching, and how we treat it using proven methods like Apoquel, Cytopoint, and more Dr. Pelton also explains: ✅ Why over-the-counter allergy tests using hair, blood, or saliva are a waste of money ✅ When steroids make sense—and when they don’t ✅ What a real diagnostic and treatment plan looks like at our clinic Whether your dog is dealing with mild itch or chronic skin problems, this video will help you understand what’s going on and what to do next.
